Changes
This has been a very eventful couple of weeks. Last week I was officially sworn in as the 1st Vice President of the American Women's Club of the Philippines. I get to re-design our website and keep it updated. It will be a lot of fun, and I'll get to spend more time at home with the kids. (I've been Membership Co-Chair since September which has demanded a lot of time in all the various meetings.) Our website is AWCPhilippines.org and I'm hoping the new website will be up and functional in the next month or two.
We have a house guest, little Megan. She's a 7 month old 6 pound baby who's had a rough start in life. She was abandoned at the hospital about 7 months ago after her mom gave birth to twins, taking the healthier twin and leaving Megan. Megan hadn't even been given a name until after we brought her home. The hospital thought she might have cerebral palsy. You could physically see that one side of her body was more active and her head was cranked to the right and wouldn’t straighten out much. When we first met Megan she wouldn't even make continuous eye contact.
Within the first 48 hours of having her we saw a huge difference, but it has been a complete miracle to see how much she has changed within 1 week. She now rolls over, laughs, talks, smiles, blows bubbles, sucks on her hands and anything else she can get to her mouth, reaches and grabs things, makes eye contact and will follow us around the room with her eyes, eats 4 oz of formula every 3 or 4 hours and Saturday even ate rice cereal for the first time and loved it. Her muscles in her legs and arms have filled out a bit and she her face is a little fuller.
Gavin and Olivia love baby Megan and are really enjoying having a baby around. They want to help feed her, hold her, get diapers, bounce her, etc. We watch them very carefully but it’s all been positive so far.
